Shock me like an electric eel

So this is my new purchase, a plain Topshop black bandage skirt for £12; and quite a good investment piece! I'm excited as I've just got my UCAS card as applying for university is looming, and you get a 10% Topshop and 20% Motel Rocks discount, so I now have an excuse to shop more! I haven't done an outfit post in god knows how long so here are some ways I've been wearing my bandage skirt:

The only problems I have found with wearing the skirt is that it rides up a lot if you're power walking (like I do) for the bus...which left to having undesirable comments like 'hello sexy legs' and being perved on by chavs which I could do without when running for the bus with two heavy folders in the rain!

This leads me onto my rant for the day, doesn't it annoy you when what you are wearing immediately effects how you are treated? For example, if I wear combat boots, jeans and a leather jacket I get avoided nervously by the elderly, if I wear a bandage skirt I get leered at by the bus driver. Being cat called or wolf whistled at is one thing, but it quickly becomes harassment. I have a friend who was wearing a bandage skirt , sitting next to a guy on the bus with a laptop who was having an msn webcam conversation with his friend; and he asked her to look into the webcam for him so his friend could see what she looked like. She naturally refused, especially as she could see he was describing what he would like to do to her, and his friend was encouraging him to follow her when she got off the bus and get her alone. Its terrifying that wearing practically anything above the knee (not just bandage skirts) seems to make the pervs out there think you are warranting their advances. I know bandage skirts cling to your shape, and that some say if you choose to dress 'provactively' then it is your fault when you attract unwanted attention or get yourself into dangerous situations. But to be honest, as my friend put it, shouldn't we as women be able to wear what the f*ck we want without being at risk of rape?

I seem to have completely contradicted myself by making it sound dangerous to wear a bandage skirt, but this is something that has been getting on my nerves!
Anyhoo hope everyone had a great week, I'm looking foward to a 3 day weekend!

What's in my bag?

Bonjourno! How is everyone? Its been so nice and sunny this week that I've been outside in a sleeveless top...shocking! I went back to school on Tuesday which is a bit boring, and strange because a lot of people are stuck abroad due to the whole Volcanic ash thing. Still they re-opened British airspace again so hopefully everyone can get home now!

I've read 'what's in my bag' posts before and always find them interesting, so thought it was a good idea to do my own!

Cute bag charm from my friend (apparently she chose it because it looked like me...I'll take it as a compliment) and Tenshi Neko (Japanese for Angel Cat) pencil case. Anyone else think tenshi neko is a hello kitty copycat? Also if anyone can read Japanese please translate the characters on it for me! My Japanese is limited to introducing myself and saying useful things like 'apple' and 'sparrow hawk'.

Also some belated birthday pressies I received:

I thought the muffin candle above was real and came so close to eating it, I was really dissapointed when I realised it was a candle!
Volume 3 of my favourite manga Paradise Kiss (and apparently two more to come, two weeks late thanks to WHSmith's online shopping service, wouldn't recommend buying online with them!) from my little brothers, and a book from my friend.

Chibi Face

Just thought I'd share these adorable Chibi Gaga drawings. Chibi is a style of art where the characters are drawn very small and cute. Basically like manga but more simplified and twice as cute, chibi can mean 'small' in Japanese. I saw these on the GagaDaily fashion section and thought I'd share them!

I love the VMA's GaGa and Royal variety performance best I think!

Piglets!

Just thought I'd tell you guys that my pig Mussy is having piglets! I may have mentioned before my family are smallholders (not-quite farmers) in that we keep chickens and a few pigs. Anyway our favourite pig is just having her piglets now, she's had 5 so far and they are adorable! They're jet black and have big ears already due to their breed (large black)...haha I'm such a farmers daughter. Anyhoo I will take photos tommorow when the number of piglets will have probably doubled and put them here for you guys.

S-s-s-sylvia

My Asos package arrived! I'm not wearing the knee high socks as, weirdly, its too hot outside! Sun, in England? Crazy I know! So I'm wearing my Bow back nude skater dress from Asos from their sale which was only £13.50 which I'm pleased with. So I recruited my brother Harry to take these outfit photos for me, seeing as he somehow found out about my blog he might as well help me! I desperately need a tripod but I think my camera is too useless to even have a tripod securing area.

The only problem with the dress is that its quite sheer, or as my brother so eloquently put it: 'are the people at Asos perverts cos your dress is really see through'.

We've got a show to put on your dress

Finally an update! Nothing has been that interesting to blog about recently :S But I have just spent pretty much most of my birthday money on a bow back skater dress and navy knee highs from Asos and an American Apparel skirt that I already have but in a different colour. I'd forgotten how good Asos was! I was looking through their motel section and some of the dresses are cute but look really short, I have this problem with a lot of Topshop's dresses too in that they don't leave much to the imagination unless you wear dark tights and keep tugging the dress down! Does anyone else find this?
On the other hand I looked at the hoisery section and there are a lot of cute tights! I love my pair of black ones with big pale pink hearts all over from Topshop but I get lots of weird looks walking around my city in them and a girl in my year has a pair too so I haven't worn them as much.

I love the heart suspender ones!

There aren't as many cute ones on Topshop as usual but I think they get snapped up quite quickly, but I love the little pink bows on the left pair.

Ramble

Sorry I haven't posted more regularly, I've been slightly uninspired to blog but I will tell you what I've been up to recently. My brother got Heavy Rain on PS3 and I literally spent a whole day playing it, its so addictive! I can only describe it as like being in a CSI episode/murder mystery/horror film. The idea is that you discover who the 'Origami' killer is, its like a movie in that the story line is really interesting and gets you hooked, but you play different characters and control all their actions: whether they die or survive, kill people or save them. I didn't manage to save all my characters as you have to have quick reflexes and after about 3 hours playing you're kind of like @_@ zoned out! I really recommend the game but not for your younger brother/sister, I can't believe mine managed to buy it so easily as its so graphic (violence and language) and only rated 15. I found parts of it disturbing and I'm 17! I love video games but games like Modern Warfare or COD just make me want to throw myself out of a window with boredom and I find it kind of unnecessary to simulate those sort of things(and simulating murder mysteries isn't? I'm a hypocrite).

I also went to see How to train your dragon today, and thought it was adorable. America Ferrera played the female lead Astrid and a Canadian actor played the male lead Hiccup. I thought it was quite strange to have a couple of characters with American/Canadian accents (I can't tell the difference I'm afraid) in contrast with the bulk of the rest of the voice cast with thick Scottish accents! Overall it was a very cute film and amazing animation, kind of makes me wish I had a pet dragon. Talking of pets, when I move back into my house this summer we are getting two kittens, as my cat Alfie died a few days before Christmas. I wouldn't say I'm a cat or a dog person as I have two dogs and have always had a cat (my other cat passed away last Spring aged 20) but I definately miss having a cat!
I also bought myself a french manicure set (sorry these pictures are so crap, I took them on the webcam) after spending about 6 years trying to get the self-checkout machines work at Tescos and decided to go over the nude colour in my new Barry M colour. Cute look for summer I think!

A day in Cambridge

Yesterday I went to Cambridge for the day to see where my Grandpa went to university as he hadn't been back for 50 years, and also just to generally sight see. I know Oxford well so it was interesting to see the difference between cities and universities!

I think this is above Trinity chapel, the statue of Henry the 8th on the right should be holding a statue but apparently when my Grandpa was at uni some people removed the sceptre he was holding and put a chair leg in his hand. Its still there after 50 years! After looking round the college we went punting and had lunch. All the blossoms have suddenly come out and the views were gorgeousl:

Sorry this post is quite picture heavy! Btw you might be able to tell in the picture above I've dyed my hair to the colour I first dyed it which is Ice Mahogany, a sort of dark brown/purple. Its been crazily warm in England, I spent the whole day not wearing a coat and today I even went out in a t-shirt and gladiator sandals, so expect more summery outfit posts soon!

Midnight rush with the pen in my hand

Konnichiwa! I have so much to tell anyone who's reading. Firstly, I have revamped Sequins&Beads (unfortunately at the cost of accidentally deleting my blog list, so if you were on there before or want to be on there just drop me a comment) so there is more room for pictures. Secondly it was my birthday yesterday so I am now 17, yay! Here are some pressies I received:
Photobucket
Photobucket

Hollister t-shirts from my relative in America, I wasn't sure about these as brands like Hollister and Abercrombie & Fitch are a bit too preppy for my style but the t-shirts are a really nice material and comfy.
Photobucket

Keeping up with the trend of getting my ears pierced on my birthday (I got my first piercing on my 15th) I went to Claire's with my friend Louise and got two more piercings:
Photobucket

These are the last two I will probably ever get, I only wanted two more for the sake of being able to wear two more pairs of earrings :3 I had heard horror stories relating to piercings at Claire's but the woman who did my ears couldn't of been nicer and even had another piercer do the other ear at the same time so it was over more quickly. They also give you a huge bottle of after care solution and my ears haven't dropped off yet so I would recommend them for piercings!

The other piece of exciting news is that I got an amazing new laptop for my birthday (well amazing compared to my previous craptop):

Photobucket

Unlike my last laptop it doesnt crash every two seconds, and runs a lot quicker so now posting won't be such a chore you can probably expect them more often.

Naturally the first thing I did on my birthday was go and blow some of my birthday money on things I don't need:

Photobucket
Bourjois liquid eyeliner, Topshop watch ring, Barry M nail polish, earrings which were a birthday present and a close up of my new bag.
Photobucket
Topshop scarf

Lastly a silly photo I took messing around with my new laptops webcam effects:

Hahaha I can tell this is going to give me endless hours of entertainment!

Happy Easter!

Sorry for the lack of posting, fingers crossed I'm getting a new laptop for my birthday on Wednesday and then I will start posting then!

In case you hadn't noticed I had to delete my last two posts due to my blog having a nervy b so I'm revamping/have revamped it a bit. Hopefully I'll be getting some exciting program like photoshop with the laptop so I may even go wild and make a new header!
