FOTD #19 | Topshop Zine Autumn Look

When I was in Topshop recently I picked up their new free zine, and the make up looks on the front and back are just soo pretty. Decided to this look on the front with dark red lips and sheer orange-y pink shadow, perfect for autumn.

The no7 lipstick in 'plum' is the closest match I could get to the gorgey dark red the model is wearing, and I layered Urban Decay's big fatty lip plumper over the top to give a similar glossy look. For the eyeshadow I used ELF's Beauty Book Neutral eye shadow palette and mixed a pale pink with a middling orange. I hardly ever tightline my eyes with kohl eyeliner so did find this a bit difficult, especially as kohl seems to go for a wander around your face after a few hours. Nothing some good primer couldn't fix though hopefully. xx

How to pack for a holiday...with only hand luggage

So I had read an article in Cosmo recently about different holidaymakers attitudes to packing and this one girl just took hand luggage and I remember thinking I could never do that. But I discovered recently I HAD TO.

I think I've mentioned before that I'm a child minder/nanny when I'm home from uni and the family I work for asked me to go on holiday with them to help with the kids. It was only for 5 days but I am by no means a light packer. I cannot do a 'capsule wardrobe', and I bring a hell of a lot of full sized toiletries with me when I travel

So, I thought I'd document my attempt and publish the results here in case anyone else has to go through the same torture.

Step 1)

Identify the hand luggage size allowances

 photo 008_zps56eafa78.png

I am flying with RyanAir which means I have the shittiest allowances when it comes to luggage. I am allowed 55cm x 40cm x 20cm bag which can weigh up to 10kg. Which pretty much allows me to bring a change of knickers and a bikini. I kid but RyanAir really are tight bastards

Step 2)

Consider the length of your trip, if there is a washing machine where you will be staying, and if they have things like towels and hair dryers already.

I went for 5 days and there's a washing machine so I don't need a lot of clothes. I managed to fit in 5 tops, 1 dress, 1 playsuit, 2 pairs of shoes, 2 bikinis, 2 pairs of shorts and 1 pair of leggings.

Step 3)

 photo 001_zpsb50c7238.png

Consider what you CANNOT bring in hand luggage. Nothing sharp, which means no nail scissors, tweezers or razors. You can however buy all of these things once you get through security into duty free.

Your toiletries are also limited to 100ml each (including the bottle size, even if there is only 100ml worth of liquids inside). So decant things into 100ml bottles or buy travel sizes.

However - don't get caught out like I did by putting all of of your toiletries into a ziplock back which is too big - makes sure it is 20 cm x 20 cm!!

Step 4)

Remember your hand luggage is your ONLY luggage. You cannot take your hand luggage through with a handbag as well, so remember to throw one in for when you're travelling.

Step 5)

Don't forget the travel essentials! Passport/boarding pass/purse/phone etc.

Step 6)

Finished! Check the weight of your bag and that it actually closes...

Hope this was helpful! Honestly I would not want to travel this way again unless it was a short trip because I did struggle with the lack of toiletries I could bring (as I ended up losing a lot of body shop skincare at security :( ) but I ended up not really missing them when I got to Italy anyways! xx

A casual outfit and lilac hair!

Top - Some shop in Manchester - Skirt - Motel - Shoes - Topshop - Cardi - New Look

This outfit is a bit boring (for running around town handing out CVs begging people to give me a job) but was a tester to find places to take outfit pictures. This is my house's garden for uni second year - essentially an alleyway. There are houses all around so I took these quickly then scampered inside before someone looked out the window and thought 'wtf is that girl with the purple hair doing'.

My hair is actually a lot darker now, I've been having some problems with brassy areas showing through around my roots after bleaching them - even though the dye should be dark enough to cover them, very annoying. Also threw some blue in at the ends so it has a slightly ombre effect. I'm still getting used to not being blue anymore!

I'm not sure what my blogging frequency is going to be this year, hopefully I will be able to nip out and take outfit pics everyday before I go to uni but it may not work out like that - we'll see! xx

I had a go at this adorable make up tutorial by Haruka Kurebayashi on the Tokyo Fashion youtube channel, I really recommend liking their facebook page and subscribing to them on youtube if you like Japanese street style - some of the stuff they post is amazing! I'm loving these tutorials Kurebayashi has been doing for them, definitely worth checking out the rest of them ^^

I think the fact I don't have as pale eyebrows as her and didn't have the same upper/bottom false eyelashes affected the look a bit but still a cute look! The fashion scene in Tokyo is one of the main reasons I want to study there on my year abroad, but you need to get frigging amazing results to do so *fingers crossed* xx

Heyaaa. I'm on a roll with these outfit posts, trying to snap them each time before I go out so it's something I'm actually wearing that day rather than being 'dress up for the blog cos I'm actually in pajamas all day really'. I wore this to a village dog show (hence being uber casual). We have two Border Terriers and Tiggy (the smaller one above) won 2nd prettiest bitch and runner up overall champion out of about 50 dogs - so proud of her! There was an Andrex style lab puppy competing as well - but look at that face, knocked the competition out the water ^^

I'm actually obsessed with one of the leaks off Gaga's new album called Aura/Burqa, can't wait for the official thing, look up the demo on youtube! She's working with so many good DJs/Producers on this album I am so excited!! xx
